Hi y'all! My name is Maddie and I am the clinical nurse educator for a small, boutique hospital in Austin, TX. I have been in healthcare since July of 2020 and have worked as a nurse in the following specialties: Med-Surg, Post-Op Ortho, Plastics, Home Health, and finally the Emergency Department. I initially got into nursing to work with moms and babies postpartum as a lactation consultant but I quickly found a love for all things critical care in the Emergency Department. I began my nursing career at a Level 2 trauma facility that was also a comprehensive STEMI and stroke center. I then moved on to work at the only Level 1 trauma facility in Austin at the time. It was there I realized my love for continuing education and the pursuit of knowledge. I still work bedside a few shifts a month to stay clinically relevant and because the ER will always be my home away from home. I am currently obtaining my MSN-FNP with the intent of obtaining my Emergency Nurse Practitioner certification after graduation. I am trauma/stroke certified but my true love is medical resuscitation. I love continuing education and teaching nursing students as well as new grads. I believe in giving new nurses the knowledge and encouragement they need to succeed so they feel confident advocating for their patient and ultimately themselves.
